About the artist
Ana Carolina’s perspective is deeply shaped by her upbringing as the child of South American immigrants. The challenges of strife, cultural dissonance, and a sense of misplaced identity have long influenced her experience. Years of attempting to "whitewash" her heritage created a disconnection from her roots. Her work is a personal act of reclamation—a celebration of a rich, complex cultural legacy. Through it, Ana explores themes of belonging, migration, and the lasting impact of imperialism on identity and self-perception.
Through graphite and ink—her primary mediums—she captures the raw, poignant beauty of human experience. Ana Carolina’s art invites a personal connection with viewers, offering moments of introspection and shared vulnerability. She is currently expanding her practice to include encaustics, acrylics, and collage, continuing to evolve her expressive voice.
